Common hiding places for cockroaches
- Household appliances.
Cockroaches like to hide in dark, small, and discreet places. Therefore, it is not a surprise to find that they like to hide inside and under household appliances. You might have seen cockroaches coming out from under some appliances, such as the fridge, stove, and oven. These are places where they are most likely to hide.
- Cabinets.
If you think cockroaches cannot get inside your cabinets just because you think you keep them closed all the time, think again. Cockroaches are intelligent creatures and can figure out a way to get into places they want to. Your kitchen cupboards may have some crumbs and spills of foods they will be attracted to. Therefore, it is important to keep your kitchen floors as well as the cabinets clean.
- Sinks and drains.
Cockroaches invade your home for a very important reason: food. Therefore, they will not hesitate to crawl up to your sinks and drains in search of crumbs of food and liquids you throw away. That is why it is so important not to keep leftover food in the sink and clean and disinfect it. Also, check your pipes in the bathroom sinks, showers, and toilets for leaks. Even a small leak can provide enough hydration for the roaches.
- Furniture.
You probably did not expect to see this on the list, but there are certain cockroach species that like the warmth and comfort of sofas and beds. Most cockroaches are attracted to moist and damp areas, but not the brown-banded cockroach. They are more interested in hiding in dry and warm places like inside sofa cushions. Moreover, they have flat and slim bodies so sneaking into cushions is not a concern for them.
- Trash cans.
Your trash can is basically a feast for cockroaches. If you do not keep a tight lid on your trash cans, you are going to attract cockroaches in large numbers. They already come into your house in search of food, do not give them more reasons to come.
